I am shopping around for a notebook computer. Any suggestions what to look for, brands, etc.? Heard of Acer?
Hi, Acer make pretty dam good notebooks, but i say go with a Sony Vaio. Sony's have extremly well manufactured carbon fibre casings which are tough as nails and have a lot of the latest hardware. Ofcourse you cant get a piece of the latest technology without having to pay a hefty cost, and thats why Sony's can reach upwards of 3-4K dollers/ 1-2.5 thousand pounds. Other good notebook manufacturers include Toshiba, Dell, Alienware, Voodoo, Packard Bell, Asus, and yes Acer. Alienware, Dell and voodoo are an excellant choice if YOU want to say exactly goes into your model as there are a mass amount of customising options availiable. Acer are powerfull as they come, but do not keep up with technology. Asus are jam packed with things which make you go wow lol. Toshiba are good as they usually have 1-2gig of ram, 15.4-17" screens at high resolutions, good gfx cards etc.
If i were you i would definatly go with a Sony, perhaps have a look at the FE and AR series as they seem to be the companys best at the moment. For toshiba i recomand the Satelitte series, or the Qosmio. For Dell, the Inspirons and XPS are awsome. Alienware, Aurora and sentia are pretty good atm.
